What is a Solar Fuse?
A solar fuse is a special purpose fuse used in photovoltaic (PV) or solar power systems. Fuses used in these systems are interchangeably known as PV Fuse, Solar PV Fuse, Fusible PV Fuses and Solar Panel Fuses. A wide range of voltage, ratings and ampere ratings determine the Solar Panel Fuse Size. The Midget Fuse, sizes operate from 600 to 1500 VDC and are available in 1 to 32 amps. The Class R, Fuse, size operates at 600 VDC and from 20 to 400 amps. The Class J, Fuse size operates from 600 to 1000 VDC and from 70 to 600 amps. NH or Square Body style PV Fuses are available in 1000, 1250 and 1500 VDC ratings. They carry ampere ratings of 50 to 400 amps. Several other sizes are available including 10x57mm, 10x85mm, 14x51mm and 14x65mm operating from 1000-1500VDC and ampere ratings of 2.25 to 32 amps.
